As boating season ramps up in the spring, it’s time to safely remove the shrink wrap that protected your boat during storage. Ensuring your boat wrap is placed in a designated boat‑wrap recycling bin keeps it out of landfills and supports proper recycling efforts.
Use a shrink wrap knife to cut horizontally just above the perimeter band while the wrap is still on the boat, avoiding excessively wet or dirty areas.
Remove all accessories such as vents, doors, zippers, strapping, rope, wood, non-recyclable debris, or anything that is not shrink wrap material.
Remove the wrap from bow to stern, place on the ground, slice into long sections if necessary, fold into 4-foot widths, and roll up like a sleeping bag.
Remove any remaining accessories, tie the bundle with a strip of shrink wrap, and place into an approved WRR collection container.
Tip for Success: Unwrap boat on a dry, sunny day with concrete or asphalt beneath it.
