This spring, Operations Program Coordinator Sarah Bonvallet spent time on the road visiting four partner counties across Minnesota. Each stop offered a firsthand look at how boat wrap collection, transportation, and recycling are taking shape for the 2026 season.
This is Part 3 of a four-part series, featuring Becker County, a critical link in the regional network that keeps boat wrap materials moving through the recycling process.
Becker County: The Regional Hub
What makes Becker County unique in the Wrap Recycle Right program is its role in the broader regional picture.
Material collected across multiple counties flows through Becker for baling and storing before being sent to the recycler. These consolidation hubs are vital to plastic film recycling.
Drey Loge from Waste Partners, a waste and recycling company that services Cass and Crow Wing counties, joined Sarah and Steve Skoog of Becker County. The three talked about this year and what expanding the program next year could look like.
The program is operating under a signed contract with both public and private collection pathways in place.
Local Partners and Regional Reach
Two public drop-off sites serve Becker County residents. On the private side, At Ease and Outlet Recreation are active collection partners.
A significant volume of material also arrives from Otter Tail County and Clay County – a direct reflection of Becker’s central role in the regional network.
That regional reach and consolidation capabilities is a real strength. It means the program is able to serve a much larger area than any one county could handle alone, and it ensures more boat wrap is getting recycled instead of landfilled.
High Volume, Built to Handle Growth
The numbers at Becker County reflect its regional role. With 12 bales currently staged and ready for shipment, the site is handling a significant volume of material from across the network. The facility has solid storage capacity, a genuine asset as the program continues to grow.
The team is focused on making sure every pound of material that comes through Becker is processed efficiently and ready to go further, turning boat wrap collected across the region into valuable resources.
What’s Next for Becker County
Becker County is well-positioned for continued growth. Its infrastructure, regional reach, and dedicated team make it a cornerstone of the Wrap Recycle Right program.
